How much does it cost to set up business in dubai?

Here is a quick breakup of costs that are associated with setting up a business in Dubai. Though these may change, you can keep these numbers to get you started.

*Please note* This post was written before the Covid19 outbreak. There are new fiscal and monetary stimulus packages being announced (for the government entities) that has changed many of the business setup costs. i.e Business setup costs are much lower now.

Here is a quick breakup of costs that are associated with setting up a business in Dubai. Though these may change, you can keep these numbers to get you started.


1 USD = AED 3.67

Initial approval cost : The Department of Economic Development (DED) has a provision where they issue an to get your business started. This license is valid for 6 months from the date of issuing.

You can begin the business, whilst completing the other formalities.

The initial approval costs AED 120 and is charged once.

Trade name approval : Your Business operates under this name and this needs an approval from the economic department before your begin.

Although, there may be a slight difference in cost depending on the name selected but this approximately what it will cost.

(This includes various sub categories like a reservation fee, commercial name fee and foreign company name fee)

The trade name approval costs is AED 620 and is charged once.

Rent an office space: Renting an office space is required and there may be a visit from the DED authorities to check if the business is operational and if it legit.

This rent varies and with some good offers and payment plans (yes, for rented spaces too).

You could get a decent space for AED 35,000 to AED 50,000. This is an annual recurring spend.

Attesting the memorandum of association: This attestation takes place between the persons who are partnering in the company. The fee for attestation varies and depends on the share capital.

The approximate fees is AED 1800, this is a one time fee.

Drafting the contract and attesting the court agreement: The Limited Liability Company agreement is an mutual agreement between the parties involved in the business.

This needs to be in English and Arabic .

Once done, the parties or their representatives need to sign this in the court.

The cost is an average between AED 1000-2000 which is one-time fee.


Department of Economic Development fee: The DED charges a fee for registering the company. Depending on the type of license issued, the average cost would be around AED 15,000. This fee covers the commercial license fee/ Tejari fee (AED 700), Chamber of commerce fee, commercial service improvement fee, and administrative service fee.

The average cost would be around AED 15,000 per year
